To my daughters

Dear Children,

Sometimes I get lost in the day to day busyness, and fail to tell you how much I appreciate each one of you. How glad and thankful I am to be able to have you home with me. Yes, there are times when I do not show it, and times when I really lose my patience...but through it all, there is a deep sense of peace and joy when I consider the amazing privilege of teaching you and guiding you through your childhood and on into adulthood. I absolutely love watching you learn, and being able to witness your enthusiasm for life and knowledge! There is truly nothing I would rather do than this. I choose having you close to my heart more than a clean house. I choose many bad days with you than one good day by myself. Though I may fail in a hundred different ways...you amaze me with your forgiveness and patience with me.

I treasure the opportunities to teach you about God and what's really important in life when we are sitting in the living room, when we're out and about, when we go to bed at night and when we get up in the morning. I delight in presenting Christ to you, and watching Him draw out your hearts. There is nothing more important than God, children. Nothing. All the attractions, pleasure, and entertainment of the world should have no hold on your heart. "We are the children of God." (Romans 8) We are distinctly directed to "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world." (I John 2) I know I'll fail in at least several ways teaching you the academics, but by God's grace may I not fail to teach you what is truly essential and vital. My passion and purpose, daughters, is to know Christ - my plan is to follow Him. Wherever He leads our family, whatever path He chooses. The academics are not an end goal, but a means to know more about our amazing God and to enable us to serve Him better in this world as long as He leaves us here. If our gain is knowledge of the world apart from God, it will have no eternal value and will produce no spiritual benefit.

Does following Jesus sound boring? Does living like a Christian seem stuffy and like something you'll probably have to do someday but first you want to experience more to life? Believe me, children, when I say that a life fully surrendered to Jesus will be filled to the fullest. He will make your cup of joy overflow! He will lead you on adventures you cannot possibly dream of. He is able to give you abundantly more than you can ask or even imagine! If boredom is a problem, ask God to show you what He has to fill your hands and your time, and you may be in for a big surpris - God is very creative! :) His resources are unlimited. One of the biggest lies of the devil (that we still believe sometimes) is that God is withholding some secret to our happiness and contentment. God wants you to prove Him, to make Him YOUR Lord and YOUR God. He wants to give you a life filled with abundance and joy and blessing...all you have to do is surrender to Him and trust Him. That's the hard part, but it's so much easier when you're young. The longer you wait the more difficult that is to do.

"My [daughters], if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding."

Proverbs chapter 2 verses 1-6

Seek for those hidden treasures, children, and may the Lord grant you understanding and the knowledge of Himself. Remember your Creator in the days of your youth...before you get older and the world gets a hold of your heart and makes you forget the One who loves you and longs to have you for Himself.

Now, I must stop rambling, and just say "I love you"! No matter what, I will love you always and forever, just like the book. :) I'm so glad to be your mama!

All my love,

Your Mother
